A Collaboration That Completely Reworks the Big Bang

The Hublot Big Bang Sang Bleu is one of the brand’s most distinctive collaborations, created with Swiss tattoo artist and Sang Bleu founder Maxime Plescia-Büchi. Rather than simply applying an artist signature or special colorway to an existing watch, the Sang Bleu changes the way the Big Bang communicates time through a layered geometric display built around Plescia-Büchi’s unmistakable design language.

The white ceramic case works especially well with that concept. It gives the angular forms, stacked layers, and rotating geometric indicators room to stand out without competing with the case itself. This 2020 example presents in excellent condition and includes its original presentation set, limited edition certificate, OEM white leather and rubber composite strap, and an additional white Vagenari rubber strap for a more casual wearing option.

The watch is running well and presents in excellent overall condition with little to no visible wear on the case. The crystal and clasp both present well, and the accompanying box set remains in good overall condition with minimal wear.

The original Hublot leather and rubber composite strap shows some exterior wear but remains in good condition with plenty of life left. The additional white Vagenari rubber strap also presents well and gives the watch a cleaner, more casual alternative while preserving the original strap with the set.

Why We Like It

The Sang Bleu is a good example of why Hublot becomes more interesting when you look beyond the standard conversation around the brand. This is not simply a Big Bang with a different dial or an artist collaboration layered on top of an existing design. Maxime Plescia-Büchi’s visual language is built into the watch itself.

Instead of conventional hands, layered geometric forms rotate across the dial to indicate the time. Those same sharp angles and intersecting shapes continue through the broader design, so the collaboration feels integrated rather than decorative. It takes a moment to learn how to read, but that is also part of the experience. The watch asks you to interact with it differently.

Plescia-Büchi’s work spans tattooing, typography, fashion, and contemporary design, and those influences are visible throughout the Sang Bleu. In white ceramic, the result feels especially architectural. The 45 millimeter case still has the presence expected from a Big Bang, but the monochromatic treatment keeps the emphasis on shape, depth, and geometry.
