Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph Q9028471
Serious JLC Watchmaking in an Everyday Sports Chronograph
The Polaris Chronograph is Jaeger-LeCoultre's take on the everyday luxury sports chronograph: substantial enough to feel sporty, refined enough to wear almost anywhere, and powered by a manufacture movement from one of watchmaking's most respected movement houses.
This example has considerably more personality than the standard configuration. It's currently fitted to a custom-made aqua leather strap designed specifically for this watch, bringing out the cooler tones in the black dial and completely changing its character. The JLC brown leather strap and stainless steel deployant clasp are also included, allowing it to return to its original configuration at any time.
The watch itself presents in excellent condition with little to no visible wear, and its Jaeger-LeCoultre factory warranty has been extended through 2030. Inner and outer boxes, warranty card, and booklets are included.

Why We Like It
Jaeger-LeCoultre is best known for watches like the Reverso and for a long history of developing movements and complications. That makes the Polaris Chronograph an interesting proposition for someone who wants that same watchmaking pedigree in a much more casual package.
The black dial initially looks restrained, but there's considerably more detail once you get closer. Different textures and finishes divide the dial into distinct areas, while the two-register chronograph layout keeps everything balanced and relatively clean. At 42 millimeters, it has real wrist presence without losing the refinement you'd expect from JLC.
The mechanical side is a major part of the appeal. Inside is Jaeger-LeCoultre's Caliber 751, an automatic manufacture chronograph with a column-wheel mechanism, twin barrels, and approximately 65 hours of power reserve. This isn't a sports watch where the movement feels secondary to the case and dial—the movement is one of the reasons to consider the watch in the first place.
It's also considerably more practical than the Jaeger-LeCoultre name might initially suggest. With 100 meters of water resistance and a design that works comfortably with casual clothing or in a professional setting, the Polaris can actually serve as an everyday watch rather than simply a more sporting addition to a larger collection.
This particular example adds another dimension with its custom aqua strap. The brighter color pulls out the cooler tones of the black dial and gives an otherwise understated Polaris a much more distinctive personality. Switch back to the included JLC brown leather and the watch immediately returns to a more traditional, restrained configuration. Nothing has been sacrificed to create the more colorful setup.
Then there's the warranty. With Jaeger-LeCoultre factory coverage extended through 2030, there's substantial manufacturer support remaining on a watch that originally carried an MSRP of $14,200.
For the collector who appreciates serious watchmaking but doesn't need everyone around them to recognize what's on their wrist, the Polaris Chronograph makes a lot of sense.
